NEWSLETTER September 2019
Hello members, hope you had a fantastic Summer. It has been suggested that we send our members a newsletter via email once a month to keep you updated with everything that is happening in the club. This will be particularly helpful during the summer months when some of our members play elsewhere.
We are pleased to announce that we have a new lady called Sarah Dennis who will be doing some bar shifts and also providing food for our friendly games. She will also be serving food on Wednesday and Fridays between 12pm and 2pm. Sunday lunches will return once monthly, to be reviewed and if popular enough every other week.
Some fixtures are available in pigeonholes for collection to prepare your team’s. Winter league’s start Monday 23rd September, and morning triples the 24th. Spoon drives to continue on Wednesday’s at 2pm.
A new Fixed Jack competition will start during the winter season, and I should know the starting date soon, keep your eyes on the notice boards. This will be a round robin format with teams entered as a pair, competitors without a nominated partner will be drawn. I’m sure this will be a very popular game.
National and County competition games are awaiting you’re name’s to be entered on the notice boards, you need to be quick, as teams will be chosen soon. During the summer we entered two teams in the fantastic fives, and our B team did extremely well, getting through to the quarter finals, well done to all who participated.
The Honours Boards will be updated and replaced very soon with nice new ones.
On a sad note to end on, Tim Simmons has passed away. RIP.
The next newsletter will be in October, when I hope to keep you informed of any news.
Th club is looking for a part-time cleaner to cover weekends and staff holidays.
The hours will be 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings if the club is open and also for holiday cover as and when required.
If you are interested, please see Kathy.
To try to manage the parking of cars not associated with the Club or its members, the Management Committee is considering introducing a new parking control system.
Club members will log the registration numbres of any cars they may use to visit and park at the club on membership renewal or when they change their car. The new system will involve cameras that automatically read number plates and an ipad inside the club for legitimate vistors to the club to log their registration number. This would need to be done within half an hour of arriving at the club.
Any unknown car registration numbers of cars that have entered and parked in the club car park will be issued with an automatically generated parking fine. Should any genuine members be issued with a parking fine because they have not had their number plate registered in the system will be able to make an appeal to the club to have the fine rescinded.
This proposal is to be considred at the Club AGM and members will be asked for their views on whether this would be an acceptable way of preventing unauthorised vehicles parking on the Club site. Whilst it is not a major problem during the summer months, once the Rugby Club starts playing home matches, upwards of 15 cars have been known to park on our site whilst the match is on.
The annual membership fees for the Club are due to be paid no later than the 1stNovember 2019. Invoices will be issued during September and a schedule will be published of when there will be someone present in the club to take your payment face to face by cash, card or cheque.
This year, you will also be able to pay by Bank Transfer, details of the account and sort code will be on the invoice you receive. When you make payment, on the reference, please put your surname and club membership id (which is on the front page of your invoice). Please also sign the invoice form and return club as soon as possible.
If you pay by Bank Transfer, you will receive a receipt into your pigeon hole.
Please note that as in previous years there have been some members who have not paid their fees until January the following year, there will be a penalty scheme in place this year. If fees are not paid by the 31stOctober, then there will be a £15 penalty applied. Anyone who has not paid by the 1st of November will have been deemed to have left the club, and a re-joining fee of £15 will apply if they wish their membership to continue
The club will be open on Monday and Tuesday evenings each week or when matches are booked in the outdoor club diary.
There will be a new members get together on Friday, 16th August.
Note to all bowlers - if you wish to collect your bags etc before bowling in matches/leagues, please do so before 4.00 p.m. on weekdays when the club is open.
