We regret to inform you of the death of Margaret White on Monday, 18th January in Bedford Hospital.
Our condolences to all her family and friends.
As the Club has to be closed indoors due to Covid regulations, we are unable to hold our usual programme of social events.
However, once open, please watch out for information on our qizzes, bingo and other special events to be held at the Club.
It is with regret that due to the recent Covid 19 Lockdown rules, the club will have remain closed until the new year.
Provided Covid regulations allow, we will be opening the outdoor rink in the new year for one day per week for roll-up sessions.
We will be in touch again via emails and by a notice on our web site as soon as there are any updates.
The Management Committee
Please be aware of some e-mail scams that are going around at the moment. You might recieve an e-mail from someone you know asking you to do something such as ordering something from Amazon for them or saying Urgent - Please help, with no other content.
Please do not respond to any of these emails. If you are unsure whether the email is real, then pick up the phone and speak to the person who sent you the mail Do Not reply.
Often these are phishing e-mails that are sent out to many many addresses, and if you respond, you may recieve another e-mail asking you to confirm personal details or provide bank account details.
There is no real danger as long as you do not reply or open any attachments that may be included. Just delete the e-mail and contact the sender by phone to ask whether they know their e-mail address is being used to send out strange e-mails - they may need to get another e-mail address.
The Club management committee has been working hard together with John McConnell, our Chief Executive to find a way to open the club’s indoor rinks with effect from Monday, 12th October and keep within the new rules and to keep everyone safe.
To accommodate social distancing, rinks have been reduced to 4 and new session times will be introduced.
To make the air conditioning Covid19 compliant, the club has invested in an upgrade which enables the system to pull in fresh air and ensure a regular exchange with outside air.
More importantly, the club is having to introduce a strict regime with regard to the use of tables, chairs and the numbers of people sitting at each.
The club wants to open, but everyone’s co-operation is sought to ensure we remain within the Covid19 regulations and are not closed down for being non-compliant.
Please, please, when you come inside the club buildings, make sure you are wearing a face covering - that is now the law. Please aslo continue to wear your face covering until either you are seated at a table drinking, or actually on the rinks playing a game of bowls. At all other times, please wear your face covering.
Numbered tables will be set out tables that people can sit at. They will be surrounded by either 3, 4 or 6 chairs which will be labelled with the same number as the table they are at.
Please, please, do not move chairs around and please also do not sit at one table, then move to another without providing club staff with the opportunity to sanitise the chair you were sitting on.
We are only permitted to provide table service, so if you would like a drink, please sit at one of the allocated tables for socialising and wait to be served.
All bar staff and anyone not sitting at a table drinking will be expected to wear a face covering.
We are living in very difficult times and we really want to keep the club open and keep everyone safe, so your co-operation in complying with the changed way of using our club would be really appreciated.
Please see the link to a document which has been issued by Bowls Bedfordshire today which outlines their response to the current issues surrounding the Corona Virus.
E-mail Addresses - Its important they are up to date as we are keeping members up to date on current status of Club Opening this
With the Covid pandemic severely affecting when and how the club can open for bowling, we are using e-mail as one of the ways of keeping people up to date with the current state of affairs.
Please can you e-mail into the club if you have changed your e-mail address recently so that we may update our records.
