The response from members to the temporary upgrading of membership to facilitate the use of the outdoor rinks until end f September has been well recieved.
The outdoor rinks currently open on a Monday, Wednesday and Friday for two sessions per day from 10.00 until 12.00 and from 12.15 until 2.15. These sessions have been well attended and after the Gvoernments most recent relaxation of restrictions, the Club's bar will also be open on the same days, staying open until 2.45 if there are people wanting to have drinks after their session ends. Everything will be run in accordance with the latest Covid 19 social distancing and sanitisation standards.
In addition, due to the popularity of the outdoor rinks sessions, it is intended to run what is called a 'Roving Jack' league on a Tuesday and Friday evening from 6.00 p.m. until 7.00 p.m. Teams will be drawn and roving jack means that it will stay where it was bowled and not aligned to its normal central position.
Anyone who is interested in taking part should contact John McConnell at the club. It is intended that this league will start on Friday, 17th July, so please register your interest promptly.
In addition, if there is enough interest, there is the possibility of ordering in Fish and Chips on a Friday, once bowling has finished.
Please see the link to a document which has been issued by Bowls Bedfordshire today which outlines their response to the current issues surrounding the Corona Virus.
The winter league team sheets are now out on the notice boards. The club needs some time to prepare the rink schedules etc. for the winterer season and with the summer season soon upon us, some of our indoor members will be leaving us to play outside. Hence the team sheets are up now to try to catch everyone whilst they are still attending the club regularly.
Please have a look and if you wish to enter a team for the various leagues on offer, please put your name on the sheets.
Any new bowlers, if you havent been asked to play in any teams, please put your name on the sheet for those who are interested in playing, but do not yet have a team to play in yet. That way, team leaders who do not have a full compliment can fill thier teams from names on the interested inplaying sheet.
The club, in the future, is hoping to make more use of sending out information via e-mail as well as making information available on the web site and notice boards.
Two of our management committee, Hazel Martin and Brian Cooke will be contacting you shortly with the e-mail address we have on record for you, asking you to confirm that they are accurate.
Please reply asap, as no response will indicate an inaccurate record and will probably result in a phone call to confirm the correct details.

Please can I remind all club members to look at the notice board for forthcoming indoor friendly matches and add your name to those lists where you would be available to play.
We are struggling to find enough members to play our indoor fixtures which means we are having to cancel. Anyone of any ability can sign up to play. Friendlies are an ideal way to be introduced to competetive games, within a friendly environment, but against different people, so please, if you are free put your name down for selection.
If we cannot get enough members to form a team, we face having to cancel the game which means we may lose that fixture in the future and lose opportunities for our members to compete against other clubs.
Please, please look at the fixtures and sign up.
Th club is looking for a part-time cleaner to cover weekends and staff holidays.
The hours will be 7 a.m. until 9 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday mornings if the club is open and also for holiday cover as and when required.
If you are interested, please see Kathy.
To try to manage the parking of cars not associated with the Club or its members, the Management Committee is considering introducing a new parking control system.
Club members will log the registration numbres of any cars they may use to visit and park at the club on membership renewal or when they change their car. The new system will involve cameras that automatically read number plates and an ipad inside the club for legitimate vistors to the club to log their registration number. This would need to be done within half an hour of arriving at the club.
Any unknown car registration numbers of cars that have entered and parked in the club car park will be issued with an automatically generated parking fine. Should any genuine members be issued with a parking fine because they have not had their number plate registered in the system will be able to make an appeal to the club to have the fine rescinded.
This proposal is to be considred at the Club AGM and members will be asked for their views on whether this would be an acceptable way of preventing unauthorised vehicles parking on the Club site. Whilst it is not a major problem during the summer months, once the Rugby Club starts playing home matches, upwards of 15 cars have been known to park on our site whilst the match is on.
Please note, that as from 1st August, Bedford Borough Bowls Club becomes a non-smoking site.
This means that there will be no smoking of any cigarettes, cigars, pipes or electronic vaping devices within the club grounds.
Anyone wishing to smoke will now have to go out of the front entrance out of the club grounds.
Minutes of the Club's AGM and also club Management Committees for the year 2019/2020 are being made available on the Club web site from the Club Year 2019 - 2020.
AGM minutes are now available and club Management Committee Minutes will be made available as meetings occur throughout the year under the members tab of the web site.
You will need to be logged in as a member to be able to view these.
